Job Description

Make a Difference in Behavioral Health

At The Recovery Village Palm Beach at Baptist Health, every day is an opportunity to help people take meaningful steps toward recovery. We are seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) who is passionate about patient-centered care, committed to clinical excellence, and ready to lead and support a dedicated nursing team.

Our mission is to provide patient-centered care in an environment that empowers and aids individuals on their path to recovery.

As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will play an important leadership role in the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department. Working closely with the Director of Nursing and facility leadership, you will help ensure safe, compassionate, compliant, and high-quality care for patients receiving treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions.

This is an opportunity for an experienced RN to grow as a clinical leader while making a direct impact on patients, families, and the professionals who care for them. You will help foster staff engagement, support quality improvement initiatives, coordinate nursing operations, and serve as a resource to nurses and behavioral health technicians.

You may also be called upon to assume the responsibilities of the Director of Nursing when needed, providing an opportunity to demonstrate and further develop your leadership capabilities.

About Our Organization

This position supports one of the trusted behavioral health programs within the Advanced Recovery Systems family. Advanced Recovery Systems is the parent organization of The Recovery Village, Promises Behavioral Health, The Right Step, and The Ranch, bringing together established treatment brands with a shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based addiction and mental health care.

While you may work primarily with a specific facility or brand, you will be part of a larger, growing organization focused on improving patient outcomes, supporting our employees and strengthening the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do

Partner with the Director of Nursing to oversee daily nursing operations and support safe, effective patient care.

Lead and support RNs, LPNs, and Behavioral Health Technicians while promoting teamwork, accountability, and staff engagement.

  • Help maintain appropriate nursing staffing levels based on patient census and established staffing ratios.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, patient care needs, and continuity-of-care activities.
  • Monitor medication management, laboratory orders, consultations, medical transfers, supplies, and other clinical processes.
  • Support infection-control audits and regulatory and accreditation readiness.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and nursing audits to promote consistent standards of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, behavioral health professionals, leadership, outside agencies, and other departments to address patients' medical and behavioral health needs.
  • Help ensure timely and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to staff and promote compassionate, respectful interactions with patients and families.
  • Help coordinate programs and initiatives as directed by nursing leadership, including the Vivitrol program.

Provide leadership and nursing oversight during emergency situations and other periods when additional operational support is required.

This role involves working with adults, children, and adolescents in a behavioral health treatment environment and may involve exposure to challenging or potentially high-risk situations. The position requires sound judgment, effective communication, adaptability, and the ability to remain composed while managing competing priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Strong communication, organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and support nursing and behavioral health staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge of patient confidentiality, infection control, medication management, regulatory requirements, and applicable healthcare standards.
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic medical records, email, internet, and standard office software.
  • Commitment to treating patients with compassion, dignity, professionalism, and respect.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Behavioral health, psychiatric, substance use disorder, or addiction treatment experience.
  • Previous nursing leadership, charge nurse, supervisory, or management experience.
  • Experience with quality improvement, compliance audits, infection control, or regulatory readiness.

Familiarity with behavioral health treatment environments and the unique medical needs of individuals receiving addiction and mental health care.

The successful candidate should be comfortable walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and stooping throughout the workday and must be able to effectively manage stress, multitask, and respond appropriately to changing circumstances.
