Summary

Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of the ongoing competency of clinical staff.

Responsibilities

Participates in research activities, quality improvement, or evidence-based practice initiatives. Collaborates with nursing leaders and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff. Uses the best available evidence to guide practice decisions.

Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of all education activities on assigned unit(s). Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. May perform clinical patient care when needed.

Serves as a consultant/mentor/change agent for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development. Manages the onboarding and orientation of all new employees and students on assigned unit(s).

Supports an environment that promotes evidence based nursing practice based on nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. Plans, updates, and evaluates clinical competencies to assess quality of patient care delivered and ensure regulatory compliance on assigned unit(s).
