What to say:

BATNA approach:

"I have another offer at $[X], which is [Y]% above what we've discussed. I prefer this position because of [specific reasons], but I need the compensation to be competitive. Is there flexibility to match or come closer to that figure?"

5. Non-Compete Elimination

What to say:

"I'm concerned about the non-compete clause as it significantly limits my career mobility. I'd like to request we eliminate this provision entirely. Many states are limiting these clauses because they restrict physician practice. If elimination isn't possible, can we limit it to [X] miles and [Y] months?"

BATNA approach:

"I have another offer without a non-compete clause, which gives me much greater career flexibility. I prefer this position, but the restrictive covenant is a significant concern. Can we eliminate it or substantially reduce the scope?"

6. Support Staff Negotiation

What to say:
