Job Description Summary

‎

Provides strategic physician leadership for assigned Mosaic Health practices, service lines, markets, or clinical programs while maintaining an active clinical practice as appropriate.

Establishes the clinical vision and direction for care delivery by partnering with executive leadership, operational leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to advance clinical quality, patient safety, physician engagement, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and value-based care.

Leads the development and implementation of evidence-based standards, clinical innovation, and physician performance initiatives that improve patient outcomes and organizational performance.

The Medical Director provides enterprise-level clinical leadership with broad organizational influence across multiple practices, service lines, or markets.

This role is accountable for advancing strategic clinical priorities, promoting physician engagement and professional practice excellence, overseeing quality and patient safety initiatives, and serving as the senior physician advisor for assigned areas of responsibility.

Decisions have significant impact on clinical quality, operational effectiveness, financial performance, regulatory compliance, provider performance, and long-term organizational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic physician leadership for assigned practices, service lines, markets, or clinical programs while maintaining an active clinical practice as appropriate.
  • Establish and communicate the clinical vision, priorities, and performance expectations that support Mosaic Health's mission, strategic objectives, and value-based care initiatives.
  • Partner with executive leadership, operational leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to improve clinical quality, patient safety, operational efficiency, patient experience, and financial performance.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of evidence-based clinical standards, care pathways, policies, and physician practice guidelines.
  • Oversee physician quality, peer review, focused professional practice evaluations (FPPE), ongoing professional practice evaluations (OPPE), credentialing support, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve clinical quality metrics, patient outcomes, utilization, patient safety indicators, regulatory compliance, and value-based performance measures through data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead physician recruitment, onboarding, engagement, mentoring, succession planning, and professional development initiatives that strengthen the physician workforce.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Practice Provider leadership to promote effective physician-APP collaboration, standardized clinical practice, and integrated team-based care.
  • Serve as the senior physician advisor for complex clinical issues, ethical considerations, patient safety events, regulatory matters, accreditation activities, and organizational policy development.
  • Partner with operational leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, service line development, growth initiatives, technology implementation, clinical informatics, and population health strategies.
  • Represent Mosaic Health in medical staff governance, quality committees, executive leadership meetings, community partnerships, and external professional organizations as appropriate.
  • Champion innovation, research, evidence-based medicine, healthcare transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance clinical excellence and organizational performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, professional excellence, physician engagement, and continuous learning across the organization.
  • Maintain current knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, emerging clinical evidence, healthcare technology, leadership practices, and industry trends through continuing medical education and executive development.

Compensation Range

  • $232,506.00 to
  • $348,758.00

The anticipated base salary range represents the Company's good-faith estimate of the compensation it reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs.
