Job Description

We have a new opening for a full-time Physician - Internal Medicine at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, AZ.

Job Specific Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the facility.
  • Clinically direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Facilitate patient access to medical care by recommending appropriate referrals to other health care providers in accordance with facility policies and regulations.
  • Provide outpatient services for patients as scheduled by the Government.
  • Care shall include but not be limited to routine general internal medicine care to include care for acute and chronic patient conditions.
  • May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients.
  • Duties include managing patient care to include approving/disapproving subspecialty referrals, answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff, refilling prescriptions, providing primary and secondary preventative maintenance care.
  • Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur.
  • Have sufficient experience to be able to adequately diagnose and treat diseases and injuries to include, but not limited to the following:
  • Have sufficient experience to be able to adequately perform the following medical procedures, to include, but not limited to the following:
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation
  • CPR
  • Prepare all records and reports within the timeframe required in support of services rendered and as required by the facility.
  • Take part in clinic Quality Assurance Program as required to meet the standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 hour shift between 7:30am and 5:30pm, with a one hour lunch break.

No Call, No weekends or holidays

Minimum Qualifications

Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).

Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.

Internship/Residency/Fellowship: Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Experience: A minimum of one year relevant experience, in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.

Board Certification: Board certification /Board eligible is desired. Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Preventive Medicine is preferred but others will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license from any state.
  • Life Support Certification: Possess current American Heart Assoc or American Red Cross BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

The physician will perform a full range of internal medicine services, including diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions for a panel of patients. Responsibilities also include managing subspecialty referrals, interpreting diagnostic tests, and participating in the clinic's quality assurance program.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree, have completed an accredited residency, and possess a current, unrestricted medical license. Additionally, applicants must have at least one year of relevant experience and hold current BLS and ACLS certifications.
