We are seeking a TEMPORARY/CONTRACT Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality care through the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. The Nurse Practitioner will deliver direct patient care with a strong focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and continuity of care, while helping ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, Student Health & Well-Being (SHWB), and ambulatory accreditation requirements. payrate- $80 per hour

Responsibilities
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Patient care: Provide culturally responsive, affirming, and evidence-based care that supports the diversity, equity, and inclusion values of SHWB.
Clinical assessment and treatment: Conduct comprehensive, age-appropriate assessments; obtain medical histories; perform screenings and physical examinations; order and interpret diagnostic tests; diagnose acute and chronic conditions; and prescribe appropriate medications and treatments.
Health promotion: Educate patients with a strong emphasis on health maintenance, preventive care, and informed self-management.
Care coordination: Promote continuity of care by coordinating available healthcare services and making appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies.
Professional accountability: Organize time and workload to meet patient, staff, and departmental needs, and assume responsibility for clinical and administrative decisions that affect people, costs, and service quality.
Quality and safety: Participate in peer chart review, laboratory proficiency testing, quality-control activities, and other quality-improvement efforts.
Documentation and compliance: Document care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record in accordance with applicable medical, legal, regulatory, accreditation, and SHWB requirements.
Professional engagement: Attend SHWB meetings, participate in SHWB Primary Care committees, and pursue continuing education and professional development.
Additional responsibilities: Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Inclusive care: Experience working effectively with diverse patient populations and individuals with multiple, intersecting identities, including people from historically marginalized or underrepresented communities and those of varied ages, developmental stages, cultures, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, nationalities, disabilities, gender identities, and sexual identities.
- Clinical knowledge: Demonstrated competence in young adult health, public health, or college health.
- Student-centered practice: A strong commitment to the care, development, and education of students and trainees.
- Communication and organization: Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Word and email; knowledge of Excel is preferred.
Required training: Successful completion of all required and ongoing electronic medical record, HIPAA, and other assigned training.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse license.
- Certification as an ADULT OR FAMILY Nurse Practitioner.
- Current Nurse Practitioner license in Maryland.
- Current CPR certification.
- Two to four years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Preferred Qualifications
Ambulatory care experience as a Nurse Practitioner in adolescent or young adult health, public health, or college health.
- Current licensure in Washington, DC.
- Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Controlled Dangerous Substances registrations.
- Currently or previously credentialed and privileged through Johns Hopkins.
