Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to support the Special Warfare Training Wing (SWTW) at Joint Base San Antonio.

In this role, you will coordinate clinical and operational medical support with the Government Medical Director and/or Flight Commander, integrating human performance optimization with medical care across SWTW training courses.

You will provide direct patient care, supervise contract medical staff, and ensure medical operations align with Air Force flight medicine and applicable military treatment facility standards of care.

How You Will Make an Impact

As a Physician Assistant, You Will

Provide medical supervision and oversight to paramedics in accordance with clinical standards established by Government Medical SWTW/HPSG-Medical Support Services, State of Texas requirements, and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) standards. Ensure clinical practice remains aligned with protocols and guidance approved by the Government Medical Director.

Document all patient encounters in the electronic medical record (MHS GENESIS). Conduct peer reviews as assigned by the Government Medical Director. Precept and cosign documentation from non‑privileged providers as directed.

Evaluate patients and issue medical clearances in accordance with Air Force flight medicine standards. Conduct human performance activities commensurate with credentialing and certification at various SWTW training sites.

Perform patient evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in clinic, at training pools, and in the field during SWTW training activities. Provide medical coverage for training events as required by the mission schedule.

Participate in regular multidisciplinary medical meetings to review patient status, treatment plans, and outcomes. Provide professional medical assessments and recommendations regarding student progression through the training pipeline.

Report activities and utilization data to designated Government oversight, including submission of inputs to the Human Performance Utilization Tracker (HPUT) or similar Government databases as required.

Validate patient care data to ensure accuracy and compliance with established medical standards and Government research protocols.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Education

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Certification

Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); must maintain board certification throughout employment.

Licensure/Registration

Valid, unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any U.S. state.

Certifications / Privileging

Meet all credentialing and privileging requirements of the host military treatment facility credentialing office, including verification of licenses, certifications, and qualifications to practice in one or more of the following: family medicine, flight medicine, occupational medicine, emergency medicine, or urgent care.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in one or more of the following: Family Medicine Flight Medicine Occupational Medicine Urgent Care Emergency Medicine

Work Schedule

Ability to work a non‑standard schedule aligned to training and mission needs, including extended hours and/or rotating shifts (early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) as required.

The likely salary range for this position is $93,500 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
