Job Description
Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive, academic health system in central New York and a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Department of Neurosurgery.
- Salary Range: $142,809 - $186,000
- Sign-on Bonus: up to $75,000
- Location: Cooperstown, NY
- Job Description & Responsibilities
- Join an established group of 2 Surgeons and 2 Advanced Practice Clinicians
- Practice within Bassett Healthcare Network, an integrated system delivering care across an 8-county region
- Responsibilities include clinic where you will see new and established patients, post-op visits, telemedicine, floor management of post-op patients, and first assisting in the OR
- No Neurosurgery call – General Surgical call is optional
- The Neurosurgery team- Bassett Medical Center has a strong relationship with the University of Rochester Medical Center and Columbia University for teaching, education, and resident involvement.
Previous Surgical Experience Preferred But Not Essential
- Hours include but not limited to: Clinic hours typically run from 8:00-4:30, and OR days are variable with two-to-three occurrences per week.
- National Certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- New York medical license (or eligibility to obtain)
- BLS Certification Required
- DEA Required
Compensation
Salary Range: $142,809 - $186,000
This compensation range represents Bassett Healthcare’s good faith belief of the compensation range at the time of this posting or advertisement. Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant will manage new and established patients in clinic, perform post-operative visits, and provide floor management for post-op patients. Additionally, the role involves first assisting in the operating room and utilizing telemedicine services.
Requirements
Candidates must hold national certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner and possess or be eligible for a New York medical license. BLS and DEA certifications are required, and previous surgical experience is preferred.
