Job Description
- Bassett Healthcare Network, in central New York is seeking full-time BC/BE Thoracic Surgeon.
- Salary: $550,000-650,000
- Sign on Bonus: $100,000
- Location: Cooperstown, NY
Job Description & Responsibilities
- Perform thoracic surgeries, including minimally invasive and complex procedures
- Diagnose and treat conditions affecting the chest and thoracic cavity
- Collaborate with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, pulmonologists, and other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients
- Participate in clinical research and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Educate patients and families about treatment options and recovery processes
- Participate in medical student and General Surgery residency education

- Call for thoracic patients is shared with General Surgeons on nights and weekends
Multi-disciplinary Tumor Board and ACS CoC Accredited
- Practice within Bassett Healthcare Network, an integrated system delivering care across an 8-county region
- Become a part of Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive academic health system and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Thoracic Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Board certification or eligibility in Thoracic Surgery
- Valid medical license in New York State.
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with advanced imaging and diagnostic tools.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development
Compensation
Base Salary Range: $550,000-650,000
This compensation range represents Bassett Healthcare’s good faith belief of the compensation range at the time of this posting or advertisement. Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards
- Sign-On Bonus: Up to $100,000
- Bassett offers Physicians an incentive plan with no earnings cap. Individual performance and productivity can significantly enhance compensation with potential upside realized within the first year of employment

Requirements
Requires a medical degree (MD or DO) and completion of a residency in General Surgery and a fellowship in Thoracic or Cardiothoracic Surgery. Must be board certified or eligible and hold a valid New York State medical license.
