Key Responsibilities

The surgeon is responsible for organizing and conducting the thoracic donor organ transplant recovery program, including the procurement of heart and lung grafts. They must also ensure compliance with regulatory standards, collaborate with transplant teams, and oversee quality improvement and clinical training initiatives.

Requirements

Candidates must be board certified or eligible in thoracic surgery with a valid medical license in a contiguous United States. Extensive documented experience in thoracic transplant surgery and adherence to UNOS membership qualifications are required.
