Responsibilities & Requirements

The Associate Professor of Physician Assistant Studies is a full-time faculty member who demonstrates sustained excellence in teaching, learning facilitation, assessment, student development, scholarship, leadership, and service.

This role provides leadership in curriculum design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program, advances student success, and supports departmental and institutional goals through academic, institutional, and professional engagement.

The Associate Professor serves as a mentor to students and colleagues, maintains an established record of scholarly engagement, and contributes to program quality and innovation in alignment with institutional standards and applicable accreditation requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

All responsibilities support the institutional mission, vision, values, and strategic goals while fostering collaboration across academic and administrative units. Entry-to-practice physician assistant degree from an ARC-PA-accredited program and regionally-accredited institution.

Earned masters degree from a regionally-accredited institution; must be either in the assigned area of education or in an area that directly contributes to the professional assignment.

Academic preparation must be sufficient to support teaching assignments and align with ARC‑PA expectations for faculty competence and program mission.

Minimum of 4 years of effective teaching experience at the rank of Assistant Professor; 10 years of full-time teaching experience (or equivalent) at an institution of higher education (Note: If an earned doctoral degree has been completed, 5 years of full-time teaching experience is required); minimum of 3 years of direct patient care as an occupational therapist.

Evidence of an established pattern of scholarship consistent with Boyer’s Model, which should build on earlier scholarly findings, as well as demonstrate active engagement within their area of specialization.

Current, valid, unencumbered Physician Assistant licensure in Ohio (or eligibility for Ohio licensure); current NCCPA certification; ongoing maintenance of clinical knowledge and professional practice sufficient to support teaching and student supervision, as applicable; and ARC‑PA requires faculty to demonstrate qualifications and currency appropriate to assigned roles. BLS and ACLS.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctoral degree from a regionally-accredited institution Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, student assessment, or clinical education. BLS.
