University Health Services (UHS) is an accredited on-campus medical facility dedicated to addressing the varied healthcare needs of UT Austin students. UHS provides comprehensive services, including general medical care, public health education and specialty clinics.

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and offers the option to work between 9 and 12 months per year. The number of months worked annually will be established at the time of hire between the selected candidate and hiring supervisor. Employees working less than 12 months annually will be placed on Not Scheduled to Work leave without pay during periods not scheduled to work.

Purpose

To provide medical care for patients eligible for UHS services and leadership for the UHS Primary Care Clinic.

Responsibilities

Provision of primary care for the students of the University.

Contributing to and Supporting Overall Organizational Goals

Periodic Responsibilities Include

  • Participating in and supporting peer review for providers;
  • Participating in the development and evaluation of medical care standards for UHS;
  • Performing administrative duties and serving on UHS committees when requested; and
  • Participating in outreach programs on campus, as appropriate.
  • Reviews and demonstrates compliance with UHS and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and commitment to quality care by adhering to customer service standards, respecting patient rights and confidentiality, following policies and procedures, and actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance pattern.
  • Readily accepts other responsibilities and participate in other activities and committees as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO)
  • Completion of ACGME Residency Program in the United States
  • Current Board certification in a primary care specialty applicable to college health.
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas

Valid DEA Registration

  • Two or more years of experience in providing primary medical care to patients in an ambulatory setting, including use of electronic medical records
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Experience Working with College-age Populations

Two or more years of experience in providing medical care to young adult age patients, preferably in a college health clinic

Experience with medical supervision of advanced practice registered nurses and/or physician assistants in a clinic setting

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent professional demeanor
  • Experience with electronic medical records, preferably Point and Click
  • Familiarity in working in an integrated behavioral health clinic setting

Salary Range

  • $202,000 + per year FTE depending on qualifications
  • Actual salary will be prorated based on the assigned annual work schedule (9-12 months)

Employment Eligibility

Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
