Job Description

Fulltime Radiation Oncologist for Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center, Montclair, New Jersey.

Position Profile

The Radiation Oncology Department at Mountainside Medical Center provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, delivering the full continuum of services from consultation and treatment planning to therapy and follow-up.

The program is supported by a collaborative team of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, certified therapists, oncology nurses, and dedicated support staff. The Radiation Oncologist plays a key leadership role and participates in the governance of the multidisciplinary cancer program.

Radiation Oncology is part of a cancer program accredited by the Commission on Cancer and affiliated with the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, providing access to tumor boards, shared clinical protocols, and academic-level expertise.

Advanced treatment capabilities include external beam radiation therapy, 3D conformal radiation therapy, MammoSite® breast brachytherapy, and cutting-edge radioligand therapies such as Pluvicto and Lutathera bringing highly specialized, precision-based cancer care to the local community.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Radiation Oncology
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of New Jersey, CDS and DEA required

Fellowship Training in Radiation Oncology Preferred

  • Experience with modern radiation therapy techniques, including external beam therapy, 3D conformal therapy, and brachytherapy
  • Experience with advanced treatment modalities (SBRT, IMRT, image-guided therapy) is highly desirable

Job Details

  • A mix of inpatient and outpatient
  • Clinic hours are 7a to 3p
  • Expected patient load of 12-20 daily
  • Light call shared with other Radiation Oncologist in the group
  • Dedicated APP support
  • Salary starting at $600,000 per year

Located in Montclair, NJ, the 365 bed medical center provides patients immediate access to innovative and effective treatment alternatives at specialized centers within the medical center that focus on imaging, women’s health, cancer care, surgery, obesity, stroke and chronic kidney disease.

The hospital is a designated Primary Stroke Center by the NJ State Department of Health and Senior Services and is one of a few community hospitals licensed by the State to perform emergency and elective cardiac angioplasty.

Key Responsibilities

The Radiation Oncologist provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cancer care, including consultation, treatment planning, and therapy delivery. They also serve in a leadership role, participating in the governance of the multidisciplinary cancer program and collaborating with medical physicists and oncology staff.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree and be board certified or eligible in Radiation Oncology with eligibility for a New Jersey medical license. Experience with modern radiation therapy techniques and advanced treatment modalities is required or highly desirable.
