Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Clinical Quality Specialist Coordinator supports the Behavioral Health Clinical Quality and Care Coordination Manager in carrying out Behavioral Health quality, patient safety, care coordination, documentation integrity, regulatory readiness, training compliance, and performance improvement activities.

The Coordinator performs assigned reviews, monitoring, tracking, data collection, follow up, reporting, and administrative coordination to support accurate, timely, and consistent execution of Behavioral Health quality and care coordination processes.

Duties/Responsibilities: Complete assigned Behavioral Health chart audits, documentation reviews, quality monitoring, and data- validation activities using established tools, criteria, timelines, and review processes.

Support the Incident, Accident, and Death (IA)) review and reporting process by gathering records and information, entering and tracking required documentation, coordinating follow-up, monitoring due dates, and escalating barriers or significant concerns to the Manager.

Assist with reviews and response activities related to incidents, adverse events, complaints, grievances, and quality-of-care concerns by collecting relevant information, maintaining organized records, tracking assigned actions, and supporting timely completion.

Support care coordination and follow-up activities involving crisis services, hospitalizations, emergency department visits, health plan notifications, transitions of care, and other high-risk patient situations under the direction and clinical oversight of the Manager and Behavioral Health leadership.

Maintain logs, trackers, audit tools, databases, and supporting documentation for quality, patient safety, care coordination, grievances, training compliance, investigations, and performance improvement activities.

Compile and validate data; identify incomplete, inconsistent, or overdue items; prepare routine summaries and reports; and communicate findings to the Manager for review and direction.

Assist with AHCCCS, payer, accreditation, regulatory, and organizational reviews by gathering requested materials, organizing evidence, tracking submissions, and supporting corrective-action or follow-up activities.

Monitor assigned Behavioral Health training requirements, completion status, and identified gaps; coordinate reminders and education logistics; and report results to the Manager.

Support implementation and monitoring of quality improvement, patient safety, documentation, care coordination, and risk-reduction initiatives, including tracking action plans and measuring progress toward established goals.

Prepare materials, reports, agendas, and minutes for designated staff meetings, departmental meetings, committees, audits, and quality or performance improvement activities.

Coordinate professionally with Behavioral Health leaders and staff, organizational quality, risk, compliance, clinical teams, health plans, hospitals, crisis systems, and community partners as required for assigned work.

Protect patient and organizational confidentiality, maintain objective and accurate records, and follow established reporting and escalation pathways. Promptly escalate significant quality, patient safety, compliance, grievance, documentation, care coordination, or operational concerns to the Manager.

Attend meetings, training sessions, and community activities as required and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Working knowledge of Behavioral Health operations, clinical documentation, quality monitoring, patient safety, care coordination, and payer or regulatory requirements. Working knowledge of data gathering, record reconciliation, auditing practices, and quality-control processes.

Ability to follow established criteria, workflows, timelines, and escalation pathways while recognizing matters that require Manager, clinical, compliance, risk, or legal review. Ability to review detailed records, identify inconsistencies or missing information, maintain accuracy, and document findings objectively.

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, monitor deadlines, respond to frequent interruptions, and communicate barriers promptly.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment when handling sensitive patient, employee, complaint, grievance, incident, and quality information.

Effective written and verbal communication with staff, providers, leaders, external partners, health plans, auditors, and regulatory representatives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn electronic health record, reporting, compliance, and training platforms.

Ability to work independently within assigned responsibilities and collaboratively under the direction of the Manager. Flexible, adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to interact professionally with individuals across roles and work settings.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, healthcare quality, healthcare administration, or a related Behavioral Health or clinical field required.

Must meet one of the following clinical designation pathways: Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) as defined by Arizona Administrative Code OR Qualified Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) meeting AHCCCS/ADHS requirements Three or more years of quality coordination, clinical auditing, patient safety, regulatory support, or related experience preferred.

Experience in integrated care, an FQHC, or community Behavioral Health setting preferred Experience with AHCCCS requirements, Behavioral Health chart audits, IAD reporting, quality-of-care reviews, grievances, or quality improvement activities preferred.

Other Requirements: New hires are required to pass a pre-employment background check and drug testing Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to meet applicable organizational fingerprint-clearance requirements following hire.
