Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: MSO OSA Lowell 1600 - North Chelmsford, MA, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: Masters, Salary Range: $118300.00 - $177400.00Salary, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Health Care, Orthopaedic Surgical Associates (OSA) has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join its dynamic and growing team. This role will provide both clinical and surgical support, working closely with a busy foot and ankle surgeon, in a collaborative, high volume practice.

The position offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including four weeks of paid time off and a generous continuing education allowance.

OSA is a premier orthopaedic surgery practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients across the Merrimack Valley, southern New Hampshire, and communities northwest of Boston. Founded in Lowell in 1987, the practice has grown to include fifteen physicians.

Position Overview The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive clinical and surgical support, including inpatient foot and ankle infection consultations, postoperative care, office-based patient care, hospital rounding, and surgical assistance.

Essential experience and clinical judgment Relevant clinical background: Experience in vascular, diabetic foot, wound care, experience, with demonstrated ability to evaluate infections in hospitalized patients. Prior relevant NP experience is strongly preferred.

Infection assessment: Ability to distinguish infection from non-infected wounds, recognize signs of deep infection or impaired perfusion, and seeking physician evaluation when appropriate.

Clinical ownership: Ability to assess patients, review labs, imaging, and cultures, develop and communicate a clear assessment and proposed plan, and reliably follow through. Must be organized, efficient, and receptive to feedback.

Primary responsibilities Hospital care: Assist with new consultations, daily rounds, and inpatient follow-up. Coordinate care with hospitalists, infectious disease, vascular surgery, nursing, and case management, including discharge and follow-up planning.

Messages and communication: Manage messages and clinical inbox, respond to routine inpatient questions through TigerText or other hospital communication channels, and escalate urgent issues promptly. Track results, orders, and unresolved questions to completion.

Office care: Evaluate postoperative patients and established follow-ups, assess healing and complications, and provide appropriate dressing, suture, and wound care. Surgical assistance: Assisting in the OR with exposure, retraction, and closure within approved privileges. Prior OR and suturing experience is preferred.

Training and Professional Development The physician is willing to provide additional training in foot and ankle orthopedic care, postoperative protocols, surgical closure, and practice-specific documentation and workflow.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in inpatient infection assessment and an interest in expanding their foot and ankle skills.

Schedule The schedule will generally follow the physician’s schedule: approximately three office days and two surgery days each week, with hospital rounding and consultation time incorporated into the schedule. Monday - Friday, 7:45am-5:30pm.
