Job Summary
The Cognitive Remediation Therapist provides evidence-based therapeutic services focused on improving cognitive functioning in patients with neurological conditions (e. g., TBI, stroke, neurodegenerative disorders, cognitive deficits). This role works collaboratively with neurologists, neuropsychologists, medical assistants, and support staff to deliver structured cognitive interventions that enhance attention, memory, executive function, and daily living skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive cognitive assessments and document baseline cognitive profiles.
- Develop personalized cognitive remediation treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Use structured interventions (computer-based and therapist-led) to improve cognitive skills.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy plans as appropriate.
- Provide education, support, and counseling to patients and caregivers about goals, progress, and cognitive health strategies.
- Collaborate closely with neurologists and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Maintain detailed clinical documentation and adhere to HIPAA and clinic quality standards.
- Participate in case review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of therapy protocols.
Qualifications
Required
- Master’s degree in psychology, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, or related therapeutic field.
- Full professional license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, OTR/L, SLP-CCC) or equivalent credentials as applicable in Texas.
- Demonstrated experience with cognitive therapy, cognitive remediation techniques, or neurorehabilitation.
- Strong documentation, assessment, and clinical communication skills.
Preferred
Experience working with neurological populations (e. g., stroke, TBI, dementia).
- Additional certifications in cognitive rehabilitation or neuropsychological intervention.
