Job Description

Our Mission

We exist to create a more connected, compassionate, and confident experience for people with cancer and those who care for them. We make it easier to get answers, access high-quality care quickly, and feel supported throughout treatment and beyond.

Today, Thyme Care is a market-leading value-based oncology care enabler, partnering with national and regional health plans, providers, and employers to deliver better outcomes and lower costs for thousands of people across the country. Our model combines high-touch human support with powerful technology and AI to bring together everyone involved in a person’s cancer journey: caregivers, oncologists, health plans, and employers.

As a tech-native organization, we believe technology should strengthen the human connection at the center of care. Through data science, automation, and AI, we simplify complexity, improve collaboration, and help care teams focus on what matters most: supporting people through cancer.

Looking ahead, our vision is bold: to become a household name in cancer care, where every person diagnosed asks for Thyme Care by name. If you’re inspired to make cancer care more human and to help reimagine what’s possible, we’d love to meet you. Together, we can build a future where every person with cancer feels truly cared for, in every moment that matters.

What You’LL Do

At Thyme Care, physicians are central to how we care for people with cancer and other serious, chronic conditions. As a Physician – Complex Care, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to members with complex medical needs while also supporting the clinical strength of the broader care team.

You’ll work in a fully virtual, interdisciplinary model alongside Community Health Workers, Oncology Nurses, Social Workers, and Nurse Practitioners. Together, you’ll help members address both clinical and social needs, and ensure care remains aligned with each member’s goals.

In this role, you will:

Lead interdisciplinary case conferences, offering clinical insight on complex or advanced cases and helping guide decision-making.

Contribute to ongoing clinical quality and program development through education, feedback, strong documentation, and participation in clinical initiatives.

Provide virtual urgent or same-day clinical visits when needed, using sound clinical judgment and evidence-based care to guide assessment, triage, and next steps.

Conduct virtual post-discharge clinical visits, following evidence-based guidelines to ensure members transition safely to the outpatient setting. You may work with a field-based community health worker to facilitate the telemedicine visit.

Partner with the care team to develop and adjust individualized care plans that reflect members’ evolving needs and goals.

Collaborate closely with Nurse Practitioners to support consistent, high-quality care and shared clinical standards.

Communicate and coordinate with external oncology and primary care providers to support continuity and reduce fragmentation across care settings.

This role reports to the VP, Clinical Outcomes & Quality.

The role is remote-friendly within the United States, and candidates based anywhere in the U.S. are encouraged to apply. All patient interactions are virtual via video, phone, text, or Thyme Care’s care platform. You may occasionally provide backup weekend and holiday coverage support for the Nurse Practitioner team.

What You’VE DONE

Board-certified physician in internal medicine or family medicine, with a strong interest in the management of complex comorbid conditions and cancer. Geriatrics, palliative care, or oncology fellowship training is a plus.

  • Unrestricted medical license and willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
  • Demonstrated excellence in virtual or telehealth care delivery, communication, and documentation.
  • Experienced in managing medically complex patients, supporting shared decision-making, and working closely with interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Comfortable using technology in daily practice (video visits, EHRs, Google Suite, Slack, AI-enabled tools).

Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior experience in a startup or value-based-care organization.
  • Interest in leveraging data and innovation to improve oncology care.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting an interdisciplinary team.

What Leads to Success

People-first. Thyme Care’s mission and members matter to you, deeply.

Experience. You have a strong interest in the management of complex comorbid conditions. You have an unrestricted medical license and a willingness to obtain additional state licenses, as needed. It would be exceptional if you have worked at a startup or tech-forward company.

Organized. You’re skilled in juggling multiple tasks and working under pressure without sacrificing organization in your communications and documentation.

Effective listener and communicator. You are articulate, but you always start with listening and you hear what may not be voiced, because you listen so intently to others. You build rapport and great working relationships with members and colleagues.

Comfort with ambiguity. Start-ups are fast-paced environments, and you understand that rapid changes to the business, strategy, organization, and priorities are par for the course… and part of the adventure.

A desire to learn how to use new technologies. We are a technology company focused on interacting with folks during the season where they need it most. Experience with video chatting, Google Suite, Slack, electronic health records, or comfort using and learning new technology is important.

Identify priorities and take action. You know how to identify and prioritize a member's needs, and do what it takes to ensure that urgent and important needs are addressed immediately.

Our Values

At Thyme Care, our core values guide us in everything we do: Act with our members in mind, Move with purpose, and Seek diverse perspectives. They anchor our business decisions, including how we grow, the products we make, and the paths we choose—or don’t choose.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Thyme Care.

Individual pay decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Thyme Care employees. The base salary for this role is $200,000-$240,000.

The salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired at another level. This position is also bonus-eligible.

We recognize a history of inequality in healthcare. We’re here to challenge the status quo and create a culture of inclusion through the care we give and the company we build. We embrace and celebrate a diversity of perspectives in reflection of our members and the members we serve. We are an equal-opportunity employer.

Be cautious of recruitment fraud, and always confirm that communications are coming from an official Thyme Care email.
