What You’ll Do
As a Patient Financial Aid Counselor, you’ll help patients understand their financial assistance and payment options while providing compassionate, responsive service. You’ll work closely with Patient Financial Services and Patient Access to connect patients with available resources and ensure information is handled accurately and efficiently.
- Assist uninsured and underinsured patients with financial assistance programs, including Medicaid, CICP, Hospital Discounted Care, and charity care.
- Help patients understand potential financial responsibility and provide estimates for applicable charges.
- Maintain timely communication and effective working relationships with patients, providers, coworkers, and community partners.
- Process, scan, and document information received through phone, email, fax, and other systems while maintaining accurate records.
- Cross-train and provide backup support within Patient Financial Services and Patient Access, along with other duties as assigned.
- Perform a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, compassionate team member who communicates well and enjoys helping patients navigate financial assistance options. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with sensitive information, managing multiple priorities, and building positive relationships with patients and coworkers.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; bilingual skills and healthcare experience are a plus.
- Strong communication, customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable using computers, office equipment, and common word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Detail-oriented and able to accurately process information, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
- Willingness to learn and become proficient in department systems, including HealthStream, Kronos, InstaMed, Meditech, Experian/SSI, Medicaid Portal, and other related applications.

Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
