Speech Language Pathologist

Inpatient Rehabilitation Center

Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX 75231

Work hours: Full-Time, 6.5 hour shifts Monday-Friday

  • Additional requirements: 3 weekend days required per 6 weeks along with one major holiday and 2 minor holidays each year.

  • Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology (Required) or
  • Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Required)
  • IPR experience preferred
  • SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Required upon hire or
  • SLP-I - Speech Language Pathology Intern Texas Speech Language Pathology Required upon hire or
  • SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Required upon hire and

BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support Required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

Good verbal and written communication skills in English; Problem solving ability; Ability to teach others; Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills; Basic leadership skills

What You Will Do

  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license
  • Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely
  • Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary
  • Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment) Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self management and assistive equipment
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs

Key Responsibilities

The Speech Language Pathologist will perform therapeutic treatment procedures and evaluate patient progress within an inpatient rehabilitation setting. They are responsible for educating patients and families on treatment plans, safety issues, and home management programs.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology or a recognized post-baccalaureate degree. A Texas Speech Language Pathology license and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification are required upon hire.
