Job Description

Highlights: Summary: The Certified Respiratory Therapist shall perform duties involved with the treatment, management control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and/or abnormalities within the Pulmonary system. Communicates with Physician and Respiratory team regarding patients progress in regards to care plan. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role. Education/Experience: Degree in Respiratory Therapy. RRT must be obtained within 12 months in position. License / Certification: Active ASBRT LRT required, Active NBRC CRT required, BLS required. Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc) may be required depending upon area assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete work within rigid time constraints.
  • Must possess reasoning ability and good independent judgment. Work Conditions/Physical Requirements: Position requires walking 33% sitting 33%, and standing 33% of the time during the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Must be able to push and pull equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Must be able to assist and maneuver patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and beds. Requires occasional interfacility transport via ground transportation. Key Responsibilities

The Certified Respiratory Therapist provides treatment, diagnostic evaluation, and management for patients with pulmonary system abnormalities. They collaborate with physicians and the respiratory team to implement and monitor patient care plans.

Requirements

Candidates must have a degree in Respiratory Therapy and hold active ASBRT LRT, NBRC CRT, and BLS certifications. An RRT certification must be obtained within 12 months of starting the position.
