Chief Medical Officer

Dartmouth Hitchcock

Dartmouth Health is pleased to announce a national search for a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to serve the Dartmouth Hitchcock clinical network. This role provides enterprise-wide clinical leadership across Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH and all of the Dartmouth Hitchcock clinics and services provided in both the northern and southern regions of New Hampshire.

About the Job

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Dartmouth Hitchcock and the Chief Clinical Officer of Dartmouth Health, the CMO is a transformational executive, responsible for leading culture change, spearheading performance improvement and quality goals, and coordinating utilization, credentialing, and case management. The CMO serves as a role model for all network physicians while collaborating with operational leaders, finance, nursing, information technology, and supply chain.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess

  • Significant comfort level working within heavily matrixed organizations and bridging organizational siloes
  • A strong understanding of metrics and medical analytics
  • Ability to translate organizational strategy into clinical priorities, physician expectations, and measurable outcomes
  • A clear understanding of the importance of accurate clinical documentation within patient medical records
  • Knowledge of Stark Law, the federal anti-kickback statute, and other regulations including HIPAA and HCQIA
  • Willingness to challenge traditional approaches and champion innovation and new model of evidence-based care

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must be a licensed, board-certified physician with a desire to continue active clinical practice.

A minimum of 7 years of experience in clinical leadership is required, as well as demonstrated knowledge in healthcare operations and excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Additional education at the master’s level (MPH, MHA, etc.) is preferred.
