Position Summary: First Urology is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing urology practice. The APP will work collaboratively with our urologists and clinical team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum of urologic conditions.
This position offers an opportunity to develop expertise in urology while caring for patients in a collaborative, supportive clinical environment. The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, patient-focused, dependable, and interested in building a long-term career in urologic care.
Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute and chronic urologic conditions. Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising/participating urologists and the multidisciplinary care team.
Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory studies, imaging, and diagnostic testing.
Manage common urologic conditions including, but not limited to: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) Urinary tract infections Kidney and ureteral stones Hematuria Overactive bladder and urinary incontinence Erectile dysfunction and other men's health concerns Recurrent urinary infections Prostate conditions Post-operative urologic conditions Provide pre-operative and post-operative evaluation and management.
Perform appropriate office-based procedures within the APP's scope of practice and demonstrated competency. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, procedures, and preventive care.
Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state and federal regulations and practice protocols. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the healthcare team. Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
Provide timely follow-up and coordination of care. Recognize changes in patient condition and appropriately escalate care to the urologist or other medical professionals. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and practice development activities.
Maintain professional knowledge and clinical competency through continuing education and professional development.
Required
Qualifications
Master of Science Nursing degree from an accredited institution. Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience; urology or outpatient specialty experience preferred.
Current active state license (or eligibility for licensure) in Kentucky and/or Indiana, with active national board certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA). Experience in urology, men's health, sexual medicine, endocrinology, family medicine, internal medicine, or a related specialty preferred.
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Comfort discussing sensitive topics such as sexual dysfunction, fertility, testosterone therapy, and intimate health concerns. Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a urologist and clinical team.
Proficiency with EMR systems and strong documentation skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Education and Certifications: Current and unrestricted APRN/NP or PA license in the state(s) of practice.
