Job Description
Position Overview
- Department: Pharmacy
- Schedule: PRN, Rotating
- Work Location: UAB St Vincent's Birmingham

What You Will Do
Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders.
Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems. Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
- Compoundsand dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
- Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
- Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies. Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students. May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration
Currently licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required
Education
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.

Key Responsibilities
The pharmacist is responsible for the accurate selection, dosing, and dispensing of medications while reviewing orders to prevent drug-related problems. They also provide clinical drug information to staff and patients, oversee technical personnel, and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy and possess a current license from the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP). The role requires strong clinical knowledge and the ability to work in a rotating, PRN capacity.
