Job Title: Family Physician – Whole Person Pain Service – Open Rank: Adjoint Senior Instructor- Adjoint Professor

Job Summary
The clinician (MD or DO) in this position will provide care within the Department of Family Medicine, serving the Whole Person Pain Service (WPPS) as a 0.25 cFTE.
The Whole Person Pain Service (WPPS) will provide holistic chronic pain care for primary care patients established in the department of family medicine. The service will be 100%25 virtual and will serve as the chronic pain hub for patients in the department who are currently prescribed chronic opioid medications. The Physician in this role will be responsible for two main functions: chronic pain patient care and care coordination.
Examples of Work Performed
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Clinical Care
- Provide patient care to patients with chronic pain in a virtual setting.
- Perform intake, routine follow-up, and group visits for patients on chronic opioids.
- Participate as needed in chart review and clinical coding compliance activities.
- Collaborate as appropriate with medical staff in the care of complex patients.
- Interact with other health professionals to create guidelines and coordinate patient care.
- Triage the WPPS inbasket and telephone line and support patients as needed.
- Using opioid registries, proactively outreach patients and/or PCPs who may benefit from the WPPS.
- Using opioid registries determine the highest risk patients in need to be discussed at collaborative care conferences.
Administrative/Professional Development
- Maintain eligibility for School of Medicine Faculty.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in field, both academically and through applied skills.
- Attend and present at conferences, meetings and trainings to maintain certification and enhance professional skills; participates in faculty development activities.
- Accept other responsibilities assigned by the Medical Director
Quality
- Develops, implements, and evaluates the strategy for quality improvement.
Work Location: Hybrid – candidates must live in Colorado upon hire.

Adjoint Senior Instructor
- Education: Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.
- Experience: Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program.
- Special Skills: Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPI Managed Care.
Adjoint Assistant Professor
- Education: Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.
- Experience: Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program.
- Special Skills: Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPI Managed Care.
Adjoint Associate Professor
- Education: Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.
- Experience: Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program and 7+ years’ experience working in primary care.
- Special Skills: Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPI Managed Care. Ability to meet the School of Medicine’s criteria for associate professor.
Adjoint Professor
- Education: Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO). Board Certified in Family Medicine.
- Experience: Graduation from an accredited Family Medicine Residency program and 10+ years’ experience working in primary care.
- Special Skills: Ability to obtain Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEA Certificate. Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPI Managed Care. Ability to meet the School of Medicine’s criteria for full professor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a Patient Centered Medical Home/Ambulatory Family Medicine and/or Adult Medicine practice. or interest in education and research and faculty development.
- Experience with using an electronic health record system, preferably Epic
- Experience with providing Telehealth/virtual visits
- Licensed MAT provider

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Adjoint Senior Instructor Hiring Range
$48,750–$60,500 for 0.25 cFTE, plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical FTE.
Adjoint Assistant Professor Hiring Range
$48,750–$60,500 for 0.25 cFTE, plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical FTE.
Adjoint Associate Professor Hiring Range
$50,250–$62,000 for 0.25 cFTE, plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical FTE.
Adjoint Professor Hiring Range
$51,750–$63,500 for 0.25 cFTE, plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical FTE.
