Primary Counselor – Resurrection House
On-site | Full-Time (M-F: 4 days 830AM-430PM & 1 day 12PM-8PM) (Holiday rotation required)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Counselor to join our dynamic team at our licensed all male halfway house. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive counseling services to adult individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.
Your expertise will support clients through various challenges such as trauma, behavioral issues, substance abuse and mental health disorders. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while working within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Responsibilities
Conduct thorough intake assessments to evaluate clients’ substance abuse and mental health history.
Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy.
Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use disorders, mental health counseling, grief counseling, addiction counseling, PTSD.
Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and promote positive behavioral change.
Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety.
Document all patient interactions accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain detailed clinical records using appropriate clinical terminology and ASAM standards.
Collaborate with other team members both internally and externally including admissions/intake, certified recovery specialist, support tech staff, case managers, and medical providers to coordinate comprehensive care.
Skills & Experience
- 1-2 years counseling experience, preferably addiction counseling.
- Proven experience in psychotherapy, clinical counseling, or behavioral therapy with adults.
- Strong knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Expertise in family counseling, working with difficult people in addiction recovery.
- Experience with short term inpatient care environments.
- Ability to conduct assessments, patient care planning, and case management effectively.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to mental health conditions.
- Skills in group therapy facilitation and social work practices within behavioral health contexts.
- Competence in crisis management techniques.
- Experience working with diverse populations including addictions and mental health conditions.
Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in human services, counseling, chemical dependency, psychology, or social work. Working toward masters.
Certifications/Licensure: Preferred CADC, CAADC, LPC
