Job Duties

To provide mental health support services to students that attend the Counseling Center. The position provides programming/outreach and training to the campus community.

KSA’s and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work: Provides individual and group counseling to Students, crisis intervention, conduct intakes and assessments. Provides clinical supervision to interns, including review and signing of case notes, and meeting with interns weekly to provide feedback on performance and development, when the Counseling Center has interns for the academic year. Provides 24 hour on-call crisis intervention services.

Engage in clinical case staff meetings to include clinical feedback. Conduct outreach programing campus wide including Housing and Residence Life, various departments, classrooms, and student organizations on various topics pertaining to mental health, assisting emotionally distressed students, and resources.

Provides referrals and coordinate treatment and care with community mental health providers and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Work requires knowledge equivalent to a Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, with a concentration in mental health, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience providing individual and/or group counseling services, intake assessments, and conducting outreach programming. Must be a licensed mental health professional in the state of Virginia. (LPC, LCSW, or Psychologist)
