Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse - NICU - Temporary Per Diem Research Nurse is responsible for coordinating and overseeing clinical research operations for the New Jersey Health Foundation grant-funded project (ID PC204-26).

The clinical research nurse participates in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating discharge-related tasks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at JSUMC, in conjunction with the Principal Investigator.

The Clinical Research Nurse carries out the research related tasks and works under the general supervision of the principal investigator responsible for this clinical research study. This person will work closely with the medical team providers, the principal investigator of the grant and infant caregivers.

This position requires a balance between effective communication skills, organization and clinical knowledge of NICU discharge requirements and processes.

Essential Job Functions

• Support the principal investigator (PI) by examining the clinical study protocol, reaching out to NICU families, and coordinating with the service personnel who provide care to NICU families throughout the study timeframe.- Collaborate with the PI to design, establish, and maintain a shared data tracking instrument and documentation form for families identified and contacted for study enrollment- Attain required CITI Research certification to ensure full compliance with the standards established by the Institutional Review Board (IRB)- Work alongside the PI to define and clarify research-specific NICU discharge procedures and outline the precise role of the NICU Discharge Liaison for enrolled parents.- Screen, evaluate, and recruit potential study candidates; support the investigator with the informed consent process to verify that participants understand the study, and secure written informed consent from parents.- Obtain written informed consent from participating discharging NICU nurses and address any inquiries they have regarding the research study.- Administer the final study surveys via REDCap on the day of discharge to both parent and discharging NICU nurse participants.- Monitor data by reviewing participant utilization of the REDCap discharge checklist and educational resources library.- Initialize account access setup within the REDCap system for study activities.- Conduct medical record reviews for prospective candidates, gathering medical histories and populating study data into REDCap in accordance with protocol guidelines.- Maintain precise, thorough, and current documentation for every patient enrolled in the clinical research study.- Oversee and coordinate study operations, ensuring effective communication flows between caregivers, the medical team, and the discharge team.- Participate in research meeting sessions pertaining to this study as determined by PI- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

• Current and valid New Jersey Nursing license required
• BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association is required within 60 days of hire
• A minimum of two years of NICU nursing experience required
• BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire
• Strong attention to detail and customer service focus is required.
• Excellent communication, organizational, presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to work independently, or in a team, and handle multiple deadline driven tasks in a dynamic environment is essential.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and RedCAp platforms.
• Review and comply with all relevant HMH and Business Unit policies and procedures, and local, state, and Federal laws and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive, resourceful and reliable

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate.

Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
