Job Description

Responsibilities

Prairie St. John's is seeking a compassionate, board-certified/board-eligible Psychiatrist to join our acute care behavioral health team. You will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and daily care for patients.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of acute psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, schizophrenia, severe anxiety, and co-occurring substance use disorders.

Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, regularly evaluating efficacy, adjusting dosages, and monitoring for side effects or drug interactions.

  • Conduct daily clinical rounds and comprehensive psychiatric assessments for newly admitted patients.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary care team (nursing, social work, therapy, and APPs).
  • Participate in active treatment planning and safe, comprehensive discharge coordination.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in health records

Qualifications

Degree: MD or DO from an accredited medical school.

Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Psychiatry

Licensure

  • Active or eligible for an unrestricted North Dakota medical license, current DEA certificate.
  • Experience: Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred, strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills
