Job Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist is an advanced practicing speech-language pathologist provides prevention, evaluation, diagnoses, and intervention for speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders to patients across a life span refined by medical staff.

Additionally, provides clinical supervision for students, staff speech-language pathologists, clinical fellows, provides supervision to multi-disciplinary rehabilitation staff and support staff for the provision of care.

Assist the director with daily management tasks including staffing, overtime control, timekeeping, staff performance evaluations, and corrective actions. Participates in committees. Responds as the lead to any MIDAS in areas of oversight. Oversee clinical ladder participants and program.

Assume accountability and responsibility for the provision of direct and indirect patient care. Directs and facilitates rehab staff in obtaining safe, optimal healthcare outcomes. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times and other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or graduate of an accredited speech-language pathology program
  • Five years of experience as a speech language pathologist, specialization or certification in specific areas of speech pathology preferred

Current Florida State License in Good Standing

  • Holds the certificate of CLinical Competence (CCC) issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Current AHA or ARC BLS certification upon hire
  • Basic computer skills

Qualifications

  • Evaluate, re-evaluate, and develop individualized treatment plans with measurable patient goals.
  • Deliver safe, effective therapy interventions and maintain clinical competencies and licensure requirements.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and provide patient, family, and staff education to support successful outcomes.
  • Ensure accurate assessments, clinical documentation, and implementation of evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Supervise daily department operations, staffing, scheduling, and patient care assignments.

Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance while ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and organizational standards.

Monitor productivity, quality metrics, patient experience concerns, and departmental processes, including charge reconciliation and timekeeping.

Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement through leadership, communication, and Just Culture principles.
