Job Description
Position Summary
The SLP Advocacy Manager helps AbleNet amplify the voice of speech-language pathologists, never replace it. This part-time role (20 hours per week) sits within Customer Experience and further reflects AbleNet’s focus on industry stewardship.
It builds relationships with ASHA, state associations, and other professional bodies shaping the future of the profession. It tracks the policy, reimbursement, and workforce issues SLPs face, and brings those perspectives back into AbleNet so every team understands what matters most to the clinicians we serve.
The role also partners on broader professional initiatives to strengthen the profession that helps transform lives, helping individuals with disabilities reach their full human potential.
Position Responsibilities
1. Listen and monitor. Track and analyze major issues affecting the SLP profession at the state and federal level, including reimbursement, device coverage, licensure, telepractice, and workforce trends, to inform AbleNet's response and direction.
2. Build relationships and partner. Foster relationships with ASHA, state associations, relevant federal agencies, and other key organizations. Support their initiatives through committee involvement, collaboration, and shared resources, always transparently and in line with each organization's ethical standards.
3. Bring the SLP voice inside AbleNet. Share SLP insights with teams across the company, so decisions reflect what matters to the profession.
4. Brief leadership. Keep executives informed on emerging and current issues, including state laws, reimbursement changes, and upcoming initiatives.
5. Translate findings into content. Turn policy and advocacy findings into internal and external content, such as CX talk tracks, advocacy briefs, and policy updates.
6. Amplify the SLP voice externally. Develop content and identify channels that surface SLP perspectives, keeping SLPs informed about the policy landscape shaping their profession.

Position Requirements
1. Familiarity with ASHA and the broad SLP professional/advocacy landscape
2. Interest in healthcare/education policy as it relates to speech language pathology
3. Understanding of healthcare reimbursement and insurance funding processes as they relate to speech-language pathology services
4. Prior experience in professional advocacy, government relations, or association involvement (e. g. ASHA committee work, state association leadership) is a plus
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related
- Active Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
- 5+ years of clinical SLP experience
Physical, Time, Presence & Other Requirements
Physical
Customer-Facing Office Environment – Requires regular sitting or standing at a desk, frequent computer keyboarding, and handling customer interactions through phone, email, chat, and/or video conferencing in a professional office setting.
Time
Part-Time employees are expected to work an average of 20-30 hours per week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.
Presence
Fully Remote - onsite presence is not expected/will be minimal
Travel: Occasional (10%) - potential for travel 1-2 times quarterly for onsite visits and trainings
Other
This position will occasionally require evening work to attend advocacy meetings, state-led meetings, or related events held outside the standard 8 a. m. to 5 p. m. schedule. These occasions are intermittent rather than a regular part of the weekly schedule.

Requirements
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and possess an active Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP). A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience and familiarity with the ASHA professional landscape are required.
