As a School-Based Physical Therapist at LEARN Academy, you play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of comprehensive special education services to children with special needs. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you implement evidence-based interventions that promote students' participation and success in their educational environment.

You will work across school settings alongside teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers to deliver high-quality support. Responsibilities include evaluating student needs, developing and implementing treatment plans, and monitoring progress toward IEP goals.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' physical abilities and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that align with students' IEP goals.
  • Provide direct physical therapy services to improve strength, mobility, coordination, and balance.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other IEP team members to support students' participation in classroom activities and extracurricular activities.
  • Assist in the selection and use of assistive devices and adaptive equipment.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide insights on student progress and recommended interventions.
  • Train school staff on techniques to support students' physical needs throughout the school day.
  • Mentor and/or supervise assistants or students in the physical therapy community.
  • Advocate for students' needs within the educational system to ensure they have access to necessary resources.
  • Stay current with best practices in school-based physical therapy through ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited program
  • Maintain state licensure

Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
