Job Description

UPMC is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support their Magee Women's Specialty Services office in Ebensburg, PA! With several office locations throughout the Altoona region, we're committed to making quality care accessible to the communities we serve.

Our practices specialize in obstetrics and gynecology, offering a full range of services including annual wellness exams, prenatal and postnatal care, contraception counseling, menopause management, and office procedures.

This position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays! This position will be responsible for rooming patients for provider, triage, in-baskets, will be trained for non-stress testing, phlebotomy, and injections.

The ideal candidate will have good organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work in a busy, fast-paced practice.

Sign-On Bonus Details

  • $7,500 sign-on bonus available for nurses with over one year of experience
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus available for Graduate Nurses and nurses with less than one year of experience

Responsibilities

Draw blood.

Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i. e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).

  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing. One year clinical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

Candidates must be graduates of an approved LPN school of nursing and hold a current LPN license. The role requires BLS or CPR certification and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
