Outpatient Psychiatrist - part-time

We are seeking a part-time Psychiatrist to support our Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) at our Harrisburg, PA and Carlisle, PA locations.

Pay range: $200-$210/hr

Shift: 16 hours per week (flexible schedule - choose your own days and hours between both locations)

Position Details

The Psychiatrist will provide onsite psychiatric services for Merakey's Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), delivering psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment for adults with behavioral health needs.

Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary treatment team, this provider supports individuals requiring structured, intensive outpatient care while promoting stabilization, recovery, and successful transitions to less intensive levels of care.

The Psychiatrist Will

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish accurate diagnoses using evidence-based practices.

• Develop, implement, and oversee individualized treatment plans in collaboration with therapists, nurses, case managers, peer specialists, psychiatric rehabilitation specialists, and other members of the treatment team.

• Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications while ensuring safe medication management and adherence to Merakey policies regarding prescription renewals and electronic prescribing.

• Provide crisis intervention, psychiatric consultation, and ongoing medication management for individuals participating in the Partial Hospitalization Program.

• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

• Educate individuals and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment recommendations, medications, potential side effects, and expected outcomes while obtaining informed consent.

• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment meetings, case conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review activities to support high-quality patient care.

• Collaborate with primary care providers, community partners, and external behavioral health providers to ensure coordinated, person-centered care.

Qualifications

• Psychiatrist with an active, unrestricted Pennsylvania license.
• Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines, including clinical and clerical staff.
• Expert assessment, diagnostic, and psychopharmacological treatment skills.
• Professional credentials should be current as dictated by the State licensing standards and Professional Licensing Board.
