About the position: As a Physical Therapy Assistant at Madison Health, you will be responsible for the treatment of patients under the direction of the Physical Therapist and within their scope of practice. Typically, the PTA will aid in the provision of rehabilitative treatments for patients who have experienced injury or a disabling disease. The PTA is responsible for following the established plan of care and goals set forth by the evaluating Physical Therapist. This is a Full -Time position.

Key job qualities/duties

* Provides safe and effective physical therapy treatment under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Demonstrates the ability to apply accurate therapeutic principles and practices. Uses appropriate technical knowledge and clinical judgment in observing patient’s reactions to treatments. Reports adjustments needed to the Physical Therapist.

* Completes documentation timely to maximize compensation of physical therapy treatment. Tracks personal performance to support efficient and effective care.

* Demonstrates open and effective communication with other health care providers, patients and families.  Treats patients and families with dignity and respect.  Ensures confidentiality of patient records.  Interacts professionally with patients and families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.

*  Maintains and operates equipment to ensure that it is functioning safely and correctly.  Follows department procedures for sterilizing equipment.  Manages the facilities, materials, equipment and time necessary to the delivery of services.

* Exhibits knowledge of and complies with state, federal and American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) regulations as they pertain to this position and department. Performs physical therapy treatment abiding to the laws, rules, and code of ethics as established by the APTA.

* Participates in activities that promote hospital operations and departmental growth.
