Qualifications
Education
- Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric nursing or behavioral health experience preferred.
- Experience treating child/adolescent and adult psychiatric populations preferred.
- Inpatient behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
Licensure and Certification
- Current Tennessee licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health treatment modalities.
- Understanding of behavioral health regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation techniques, and risk assessment.
- Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of age-specific growth and development for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and healthcare technology systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to respond rapidly during emergency or crisis situations.
- Ability to participate in patient management and behavioral intervention activities as required.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
