Job Description

Qualified candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) with Special Qualification in Child Neurology and be eligible for medical licensure in South Carolina.

The Division of Pediatric Neurology currently includes seven faculty members and four advanced practice providers (APPs) and offers a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient clinical services at MUSC Children’s Hospital.

MUSC’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is designated as a Level IV epilepsy center, the highest designation awarded by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers - providing multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment services for patients ranging from infancy through young adulthood. Adult patients receive care through MUSC Hospital.

The MUSC Neurophysiology Lab features a comprehensive suite of accredited services, including EEG, EMG, intraoperative monitoring, and intracranial and extracranial vascular imaging, all integrated within the Level IV Epilepsy Center. Additional specialty services include speech-language pathology and neuropsychology, along with advanced diagnostic capabilities such as inpatient and outpatient video EEG monitoring.

(Continuous) Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function. (Continuous) Ability to lift and carry 150 lbs., unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to lift objects, up to 75 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted.

(Frequent) Ability to lower objects, up to 75 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to lift and carry patients weighing up to 300 lbs., assisted. (Frequent) Ability to push/pull objects, up to 200 lbs., unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected.

(Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.

(Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet. Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills.

(Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually. Additional New Requirements: Ability to maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy.

Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
