Job Description

$380 - $400 an hour

About the Role

We’re hiring board-certified or board-eligible anesthesiologists to care for Veterans at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. The case mix is broad: general and specialty surgery, off-site procedural anesthesia, and critical care support. Daytime OR hours are predictable and call is taken from home. You can work full-time, part-time, or per diem.

This is a hands-on clinical role, with about 99% of your time spent on direct patient care.

Schedule: Weekday OR coverage: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The OR runs about 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Home call: weeknights from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM, weekends from Saturday 7:00 AM to Monday 7:00 AM, and federal holidays in 24-hour blocks.

Call response: answer by phone within 15 minutes and be on site within 60 minutes. Call-back hours are paid at the call rate.

Flexible scheduling: call is shared among the anesthesia team. Per diem and part-time providers can pick the shifts that fit their availability.

End of day: if your cases finish before 3:30 PM, you check with the service chief for any additional assignments. If they finish after 3:30 PM, you go home and take call from there.
