The full-time annual base salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is: $280,154 - $297,389; commensurate with experience and rank. Base pay does not include incentive pay, hiring bonuses, or additional benefits such as retirement contributions.

Function/Duties of Position

Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is offering an opportunity for a full-time Intensive Care Faculty with our dynamic team. As Oregon’s only academic health center, we strive to offer the best medical care to every child across Oregon, Southwest Washington and beyond.

The Intensive Care Faculty is a position focused on facilitating and supporting the provision of standardized, streamlined, high-quality medical and surgical intensive care. This position will actively participate in initiatives empowering physician and nursing care through education and sub specialization. The faculty member will collaborate with a PICU Medical Director, intensivists, and surgeons in caring for medical and surgical critically ill patients.

Work Analysis (Approximate time allocation)

Clinical

• MSICU service 12-14 weeks per year with night call commensurate with clinical FTE
• Standing Huddles and Meetings
• Meet regularly with PICU team members
• Participate in weekly PICU Case Conference
• Attend monthly PICU Morbidity and Mortality Conference
• Attend monthly PICU QI and Operations Conference
• Attend quarterly and ad hoc ECMO Morbidity and Mortality conference
• Participate in monthly simulations

Primary Objectives of Emphasis Include

• Maintaining and improving Quality and Operations
• Ensuring consistency of care

Enhancing Patient Satisfaction

Drive efficiencies including reduction of length of stay, PICU readmissions, and decreasing ICU-related co-morbidities

Professional Development

This position will join an established and highly regarded practice with clinical, research and educational responsibilities, and will hold an academic appointment.

The Department of Pediatrics has a strong network of senior faculty who actively mentor and support the promotion and tenure tracks of more junior members.

Educate tomorrow’s health professionals, scientists, engineers and managers in top-tier programs that prepare them for a lifetime of learning, leadership and contribution.

Explore new basic, clinical and applied research frontiers in health and biomedical sciences, environmental and biomedical engineering and information services, and translate these discoveries, wherever possible, into applications in the health and commercial sectors.

Lead and advocate for programs that improve health for all Oregonians, and extend OHSU’s education, research and healthcare missions through community service, outreach and partnerships.
