How You Make a Difference
The Nurse Educator and Infection Control coordinates and provides ongoing education for nursing and direct care staff based on departmental needs, in consultation with the Director of Nursing.
It is responsible for ensuring facility-wide compliance with all regulatory requirements for infection control, conducting ongoing risk assessments and surveillance to identify and prevent the transmission of infectious agents.
Additionally, it collaborates with organizational leaders to design and implement effective infection prevention and control processes.
Key Responsibilities
Develops and maintains effective staff education programs, including individualized orientation and ongoing training for nursing and direct care staff.
Coordinates and implements infection control education programs and policies, ensuring facility-wide compliance with regulatory requirements and monitoring infection rates and trends.
Acts as a resource to nurses regarding clinical practice and ensures staff competencies are assessed and documented during orientation and annually.
Participates in the Performance Improvement program by monitoring specific aspects of patient care and collaborating with nursing management to comply with regulatory policies.
Stays up-to-date with trends and developments in the field by attending conferences, reading journals and articles, and maintaining knowledge of infection control regulatory agency requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing or its equivalency in other healthcare related field.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a nurse
- Experience in providing nursing education or infection control is preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- Current license in the state of practice or possess a multi-state compact license recognized by the state to practice professional nursing
- This position is available only to those who reside in the United States.

Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent healthcare degree and possess a current professional nursing license. A minimum of three years of nursing experience is required, with preference given to those with a background in education or infection control.
