Job Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Associate Medical Director (AMD) is to support the development and implementation of the national Medical Affairs strategy for development of the assigned therapeutic areas.
The Associate Medical Directorassumes therapeutic area leadership, provides strategic input into Phase IV studies, works closely with Key Opinion Leaders, takes an active role in data generation, implements publication plans and supports the Commercial teams.
The AMD works to shape patient care through Pharmacosmos’ medicines, research and customer services excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
Within the assigned therapeutic area(s), the AMD is expected to:
- Develop and support medical strategy and execution of assigned therapeutic areas
- Serve as the subject matter expert and provide guidance to medical and commercial teams
- Identify areas of development, input into Medical plans and execute Medical Affairs strategy by taking actions that lead to advances ensuring optimal patient treatment
- Develop and/or support gap analyses to identify and optimize future indication(s) and utilization potential of our products
- Provide education and training of both Field Commercial and Field Medical teams as needed
- Support the Marketing team from a clinical perspective as they develop promotional campaigns
- Support Scientific Communications and Read-World Evidence (RWE) with data generation and publication plans, including authorship and lead the process when appropriate (assigned as scientific lead for the project)
- Tailor downstream scientific communication plans to medically segmented audiences
- Lead the utilization of the thought leader pool to support Medical Affairs initiatives
- Develop and roll-out educational concepts focusing on PTI’s therapeutic area(s) awareness and screening, guideline recommendation and therapies
- Co-lead and support medical insight council, including analyses and communication
- Provide scientific support for the development of materials by Medical, Marketing, and/or Market Access and ensure alignment against Medical strategies
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with key external stakeholders, such as
professional societies, patient organizations and relevant institutions
- Support strategy and tactics for National Accounts
- Develop and/or support the Medical Affairs congress strategies
- Oversee the strategy and execution of Medical Advisory Board meetings
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Professional Background
- Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, DO, PharmD, PA, NP with hematology clinical experience preferred)
- 1-3 years of Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Working knowledge of the clinical development process and the ICH-GCP guidelines

Additional Information
- Requires discretion with confidential data
- Travelling – approximately 30% of the time. Overnight stays – on average 3-4 nights per month
