Summary

Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of the ongoing competency of clinical staff.

Pediatric experience preferred

Educator experience preferred

Responsibilities

Plans, updates, and evaluates clinical competencies to assess quality of patient care delivered and ensure regulatory compliance on assigned unit(s). Serves as a consultant/mentor/change agent for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.

Uses the best available evidence to guide practice decisions. Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. Collaborates with nursing leaders and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.

Supports an environment that promotes evidence based nursing practice based on nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. May perform clinical patient care when needed. Manages the onboarding and orientation of all new employees and students on assigned unit(s).

Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of all education activities on assigned unit(s). Participates in research activities, quality improvement, or evidence-based practice initiatives.

Additional Job Information

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Three (3) years nursing experience.

Candidates for Clinical Nurse Educator RN Fellowship positions may apply after completion of two (2) years' nursing experience. Other Information: Department Specific: JDC- Hematology/Oncology: APHON Provider and PALS required.
