Job Description

Employment in this role is conditional upon successful execution of the contract by the client.

The Work

The Podiatrist provides comprehensive podiatric care to military service members, retirees, and their dependents. The successful candidate will contribute to the overall operational readiness and health of the patient population by delivering high-quality podiatric medical and surgical services while adhering to client standards and ensuring continuity of care.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality podiatric care, including foot and mid-foot reconstructive surgery.
  • Manage both scheduled patient appointments and walk-in cases efficiently without compromising care quality.
  • Perform podiatric differential diagnoses and determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with DHA, Military Treatment Facility (MTF), and federal healthcare policies and procedures.

Operate and utilize healthcare automated systems such as ADS, Essentris, MHS GENESIS, and Clinical Information System (CIS).

Maintain thorough, accurate, and detailed patient records, including findings, clinical observations, surgical interventions, follow-up plans, and progress notes.

  • Ensure proper documentation in accordance with federal and MTF guidelines and regulations.
  • Participate actively in the MTF's Performance Improvement Program.
  • Engage in peer reviews and Risk Management (RM) activities.
  • Contribute to meetings aimed at evaluating patient care, identifying opportunities for improvement, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support clinical education programs at NMCP for podiatric students or residents.
  • Complete annual Federal and employer-specific training requirements.
  • Participate in peer mentorship and maintain professional development through continued education.
  • Follow all DHA policies and procedures, along with employer work practices.

Comply with required medical clearances, including TB screening, immunizations, respirator fit-testing, and completing necessary health certifications.

Communicate effectively with patients both in-person and over the phone, ensuring clarity, professionalism, and empathy.

  • Follow up with patients in a timely manner to provide updates and address concerns regarding their care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas, exam rooms, and supply inventories.
  • Take responsibility for the proper operation, maintenance, and handling of clinical diagnostic and surgical equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need

Additional qualifications, certifications, skills, or experience specific to the client’s requirements may be identified and requested upon award of the task order. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to adapt to evolving responsibilities as outlined by the client.

  • Completion of a Council on Podiatric Medical Education-approved Podiatric Surgical Residency (PSR-24).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent podiatric clinical and surgical experience.
  • Two letters of recommendation from references familiar with the candidate's clinical experience and performance (dated within the last two years).
  • Demonstrated surgical competency, including reconstructive foot and mid-foot surgery.

Active U.S. podiatric licensure.

Current Certifications, Including

  • Influenza (Annually)
  • Varicella
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)

Hepatitis B Series

  • Proficiency with clinical diagnostic equipment and automated healthcare systems such as ADS, Essentris, MHS GENESIS, and CIS.
  • Familiarity with DHA compliance standards and MTF requirements.
  • Visual acuity adequate for patient examinations and reading information from printed and digital sources.

Sufficient physical capabilities, including frequent motion-based tasks and occasional heavy lifting during clinic shifts.

Due to the nature of work at the client’s facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong case management skills.
  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Clinical and surgical setting with frequent exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Special attire required, including scrubs, gloves, masks, and eye protection.
  • Requires performing manual procedures, working with sophisticated diagnostic technology, and contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Services will be provided Monday through Friday between 0700 and 1900.
  • Shifts will typically be scheduled in 8.5-hour shifts, inclusive of a 30-minute uncompensated lunch break.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Requires sufficient manual dexterity for handling diagnostic and clinical equipment, as well as providing health care services.
  • May involve heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling during routine shifts.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
