About the Role

Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUoHP), a private institution located in Provo, Utah, invites applications from qualified, passionate, nurse practitioners seeking a full-time faculty position in the PMHNP program.

Faculty members of the Department of Nursing have academic, instruction, service, practice and/or scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the department.

Faculty members participate in university governance and assist the Department Chair and Program Director to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor all activities related to the program.

The PMHNP Faculty role supports the preparation of graduate nursing students through high-quality instruction, curriculum development, student advisement, clinical education, and shared governance. This position contributes directly to the strength of the PMHNP program by supporting student learning, program outcomes, faculty collaboration, and the advancement of graduate nursing education.

Faculty in this role also help connect education, service, practice, and scholarship in ways that support the improvement of health care delivery

What You Will Do

1. Communication

1. Maintain optimal communication with administration, faculty, students and community partners regarding university and program initiatives.

2. Student Instruction and Curriculum Management

1. Participate in program curriculum and course design, assessment, and evaluation.

2. Participate in student admission, progression, and advisement activities.

3. Prepare class materials using best practices in higher education and graduate nursing practice.

4. Provide direct student instruction in online, on-site, and clinical settings.

3. Governance

1. Initiate, adopt, evaluate and advance the program’s mission, goals and outcomes of the program and the University.

2. Provide opportunity for students and peers to evaluate teaching effectiveness.

3. Evaluate and recommend faculty members for promotion.

4. Participate in all regularly scheduled department meetings and other University events.

4. Scholarship and/or Practice

1. Engage in scholarly activities commensurate with appointment and rank.

2. Maintain a clinical practice commensurate with licensure and appropriate for appointment and rank.

5. Leadership and Service

1. Serve on program, university, state, and national committees that are appropriate for their rank and experience.

2. Participate in professional and community activities for the purpose of bringing education, service, and research together for the improvement of health care delivery.

3. Accept opportunities for membership on standing and ad-hoc committees of the department and University as elected or appointed.

What We Are Looking For

Education / Certification

• Earned doctoral degree.
• Unencumbered active APRN license.
• Current PMHNP ANCC or AANPCB board certification.
• Recent nursing teaching degree/certificate OR Minimum of 2 years of recent university-level teaching (preferred).

Experience

• Active in professional nursing organizations at local, state, and/or national levels (preferred).
• Two or more years of recent practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) experience (preferred).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting contemporary graduate nursing education.
• Able to work with students, faculty/staff with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
• Able to participate in all aspects of peer review and shared governance.
• Able to pass a criminal background search prior to commencement of employment.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving skills (preferred).
• Administrative experience in academic governance and/or clinical practice (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to design and conduct independent and/or collaborative research (preferred).
• Able to work both independently and as an interdisciplinary team member (preferred).
• Able to travel, as needed (preferred).
