Description of Work

The North Carolina Early Intervention Section is a part of the Division of Child and Family Well-Being. It is the lead agency for the N.C. Infant-Toddler Program which provides supports and services for families and their children, birth to three, who have developmental delays and/or disabilities.

Children's Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs) are the local agencies that implement the NC ITP across North Carolina, working with local service providers to help families help their children succeed.

As a member of a multidisciplinary clinical team the Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy evaluations and treatment as required and conducts developmental evaluations of 0 - 3-year-old children to determine eligibility for the Infant-Toddler Program and to assess child and family needs for early intervention supports and services, including evaluation for appropriate assistive technology.

The Idea Candidate Will Have the Following

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methods of occupational therapy as applicable to children birth to three, including sensory integration, self-help, fine motor, positioning, social-emotional, assistive technology and oral-motor skills.
  • Working knowledge of Assistive Technology options and devices for this population.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Workstation will be located in the Waynesville CDSA office.

  • Salary Range: $66,696 - $110,149
  • Recruitment Range: $66,696 - $80,223

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methods of occupational therapy as applicable to children birth to three, including sensory integration, self-help, fine motor, positioning, social-emotional, assistive technology and oral-motor skills.
  • Working knowledge of Assistive Technology options and devices for this population.
  • Working Ability to evaluate patient response and progress and to present evaluative reports in case staffing and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • Working ability to work effectively with patients, patients’ families, medical personnel, and other CDSA staff members, and to deal professionally and tactfully with the public.
  • Experience with service delivery in natural environments.

Physical Requirements (If Applicable)

  • Driving and travel by car throughout the CDSA catchment area is required.
