Job Description

The Recovery Village Palm Beach at Baptist Health, part of Advanced Recovery Systems, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health Manager to lead our Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) team and support the delivery of safe, compassionate, patient-centered care. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing Behavioral Health Technicians across all shifts and treatment modalities, ensuring appropriate staffing, effective staff development, accurate documentation, and adherence to facility policies and patient safety standards.

Working closely with the Director of Nursing, Behavioral Health Supervisor, nursing staff, clinical leadership, and other members of the facility leadership team, the Behavioral Health Manager helps maintain a structured, supportive treatment environment for adults receiving care for substance use disorders and mental health conditions. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can coach and develop staff, manage daily operations, respond effectively to challenging situations, and promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the daily activities of Behavioral Health Technicians and Senior Behavioral Health Technicians across all shifts and treatment modalities.

Develop, maintain, and communicate staff schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage and compliance with required staffing ratios.

Lead staff recruitment, screening, onboarding, orientation, training, competency assessments, coaching, and performance evaluations.

Monitor departmental documentation, including patient observation checks, incident reports, and other required records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.

Collaborate with nursing, clinical, and medical teams to communicate patient behaviors, support treatment plans, and maintain continuity of care.

Ensure patients are monitored at prescribed intervals based on their assigned level of care and that facility rules are consistently enforced in a fair, respectful, and professional manner.

Support patient safety by using verbal de-escalation techniques, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, and ensuring staff follow safety and infection-control procedures.

Assist nursing staff with patient intake activities, including obtaining vital signs and weights, and promptly report abnormalities to nursing personnel.

Reinforce the facility’s clinical philosophy and encourage patients to remain engaged in their recovery journey following discharge.

Participate in leadership meetings, departmental initiatives, and facility improvement projects. Additional responsibilities may include coordinating transportation operations, driver assignments, and vehicle maintenance oversight.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of direct experience in the behavioral health field required.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with adults required for adult treatment facilities.
  • CPR and Standard First Aid certifications required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, conflict-resolution, and staff-development skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate documentation, exercise sound judgment, and respond effectively in a fast-paced treatment environment.

Knowledge of patient confidentiality requirements, workplace safety, infection control, incident reporting, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.

Ability to use verbal de-escalation techniques and maintain professional boundaries while working with patients experiencing behavioral health or substance use challenges.

Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and support consistent application of facility policies and treatment expectations.
