Job Description
- Beloit Health System is looking to add a Part-Time Pharmacist to our Pharmacy Team!
- Shift: 1st and 2nd Shift Combination
- Schedule: 6:30a – 9p (10-hour shifts within this timeframe)
- Hours per week: 20
- Benefits Status: Eligible
- Department: Pharmacy
- The Pharmacist is responsible for performing professional and clinical functions associated with the practice of Pharmacy in the institutional setting, outpatient infusion setting and outpatient ambulatory surgery
- All medication dispensing functions.
- All aspects of medication monitoring, to ensure the safe and effective use of medication
- Contributing to the drug selection and procurement process through the hospital formulary and ensuring the safe handling and accountability for all drugs
- Compounding and preparing ordered pharmaceutical preparations
- Consultation with providers to provide safe and effective medication therapy in a cost-effective manner
Providing drug information to providers and nursing staff concerning formulary status, dosage form, side- effects, and incompatibilities of currently available drugs
Monitoring and documenting the progress of patients receiving medications that are dosed using pharmacokinetic parameters
Monitoring TPN Patients
- Compounding sterile products including chemotherapy and biologic agents, using aseptic technique and following USP guidelines outlined in USP chapters 725, 797 and 800.
- Verifying CPOE orders and entering medication orders after patient profile review
- Completing patient charges
Participating in Continuing Education Programs
- Supervising inventory levels and ordering medications from approved health system vendors when needed
- Maintaining inventory and records of controlled substances per regulation
- Demonstrate competency of Pharmacy Technician job duties including, but not limited to filling and restocking Automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and preparing sterile and nonsterile compounded products and chemotherapy.
- Supervising Pharmacy Technicians
- Supervising and organizing daily operational duties of the Pharmacy department using team concepts
- Providing drug information and education to other health care professionals and patients
Demonstrate the ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software applications appropriate to position
Preparing for and attending clinical rounds including Critical Care, Oncology and Antimicrobial stewardship rounds (ASP)
Writing drug monographs and Drug Use Evaluations (DUEs) and collecting data for Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Quality Management
- Utilizing the health system approved electronic event monitoring tool to document adverse medication events.
- Review and approval of compiled medication histories.
- Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
- Active Wisconsin and Illinois licensure required
- Hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Sound judgement and immediate and responsive decision-making skills
- Complies with all state and federal Pharmacy regulations.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple demands.
- Maintain ethical conduct and keep confidential personal and medical information about patients.
- Adhere to established health system and Pharmacy Department policies, rules, and regulations.
- Participate in educational programs and continually seek for personal development.
