Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Respiratory Therapist Vascular Access, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in independently providing and maintaining vascular Access as ordered by a Physician.
This could include any of the following: Central Lines, Peripherally inserted Central Catheter (PICC), Peripheral lines, Midlines, Dialysis Catheters, Arterial lines and IVs
Every day you will apply your keen assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations.

Review Physician orders, patient’s history and labs to determine appropriate line placement to be utilized for the procedure, identifies potential issues or risk factors that may impede the patient being a viable candidate or may require alternative vascular access.
Obtains consent to perform the procedure for the appropriate line. Provide patient teaching/education regarding the line insertion, care and maintenance,
Inserts and maintains appropriate lines per Policy, to include dressing changes, line review, port access and de-clotting.
Utilizes ultrasound technology to ensure accurate insertion. Maintains sterile field throughout the entire procedure. Determines accurate placement and receives or provides clearance of the line via appropriate method. Maintains accurate, timely and appropriate documentation in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Review chest x –ray to ensure accurate placement of Central lines. Utilize Sherlock 3CG+TCS display or Chest X-ray to ensure accurate placement of PICC lines.

- 5 years of Respiratory experience.
- Trained in Central line insertion.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Respiratory Care Practitioner: AZ (RCP)
- American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support - CPR

Requirements
Candidates must have at least 5 years of respiratory experience and be trained in central line insertion. Required credentials include a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification, an Arizona Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license, and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
