Job Description

Sports Physical Therapist | Overhead Athlete & Baseball Performance

  • KIME Performance Physical Therapy
  • Location: Sacramento / Carmichael, CA
  • Clinic Partner: Sacramento Athletic Center
  • Position: Full-Time Physical Therapist
  • Base Salary: $80,000–$100,000 + uncapped gainshare

This ISN’T Traditional Physical Therapy.

At KIME Performance Physical Therapy, rehabilitation should do more than get people out of pain. It should prepare them to return to the sports, activities, and lives they love, with more confidence, strength, and capability than before.

We’re looking for a Sports Physical Therapist with experience treating overhead athletes, especially baseball players, to join our Sacramento/Carmichael team.

Our clinic sits inside Sacramento Athletic Center, a premier baseball rehabilitation and performance environment. We work with competitive athletes, developing players, and active people who expect more from their rehab.

Baseball and overhead athletes are a big part of this clinic’s identity. We also serve a broad population of active adults and patients recovering from orthopedic injuries and surgery.

The Opportunity

This role is for a PT who loves sports medicine, understands what overhead athletics demands, and wants to help athletes get back to high-level performance.

You’ll work alongside a team that values clinical reasoning, objective testing, strength and conditioning, and collaborative care.

At KIME, we don’t separate rehabilitation from performance. We connect them.

What You’LL Do

  • Evaluate and treat orthopedic and sports-related injuries, with an emphasis on shoulder, elbow, and overhead athlete rehabilitation.
  • Build individualized rehab and return-to-sport programs for baseball players, throwing athletes, and active individuals.
  • Apply principles of biomechanics, kinetic chain function, progressive loading, and strength development.
  • Use objective performance testing, including force plates, to guide clinical decisions.
  • Progress patients past traditional rehab into advanced movement, strength, power, and sport-specific work.
  • Collaborate with performance coaches, fellow clinicians, and community partners on athlete development.
  • Educate patients and athletes on injury prevention, performance, and long-term resilience.
  • Deliver exceptional care to the general active population, including post-surgical and orthopedic patients.

Who We’RE Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent accredited physical therapy degree.
  • Current California Physical Therapist license, or eligibility for a PT License Applicant (PTLA) permit with licensure to follow.
  • Clinical experience treating orthopedic and sports-related conditions.
  • Experience evaluating and rehabilitating overhead athletes.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and patient relationship skills.
  • A commitment to evidence-informed practice, professional development, and collaborative care.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with baseball players, pitchers, and other throwing athletes.
  • Knowledge of throwing mechanics, shoulder and elbow biomechanics, and return-to-throwing progressions.
  • Post-operative shoulder and elbow rehab experience, including UCL reconstruction.
  • Familiarity with strength and conditioning principles, plyometrics, power development, and return-to-sport testing.
  • Experience with force plates, dynamometry, or other objective assessment tools.
  • SCS, CSCS, or similar advanced training.
