Locum NP (Nurse Practitioner), PA (Physician's Assistant) Gastroenterology

This on-site position offers an opportunity to provide high-quality patient care within a specialized gastroenterology setting, supporting diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of digestive and gastrointestinal conditions.

As a Locum NP/PA in Gastroenterology, you will work closely with gastroenterologists and the clinical team to deliver comprehensive care to patients. This role is ideal for an Associate-level clinician who is ready to contribute independently while continuing to grow within a collaborative medical practice environment in the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

Conduct patient consultations, histories, and comprehensive physical examinations for gastroenterology patients

• Diagnose and manage common and complex gastrointestinal conditions under appropriate supervision
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests, laboratory work, and imaging studies
• Assist with endoscopic procedures and pre- and post-procedure patient care
• Prescribe medications and monitor patient response and potential side effects
• Provide patient education on digestive health, dietary guidance, and treatment adherence
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant electronic medical records
• Coordinate referrals and communicate effectively with other healthcare providers
• Adhere to clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and practice policies

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Kansas
• Current national board certification (NP or PA-C) in good standing
• Graduate degree from an accredited NP or PA program
• Associate-level clinical experience, with prior exposure to gastroenterology preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and clinical documentation
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a medical practice
• Preferred: Experience with endoscopy support, colonoscopy, or procedural assistance
• Preferred: Familiarity with managing chronic GI conditions such as IBD, GERD, and liver disease

Level II Trauma Center

Schedule: Monday-Friday (7a-5p)

No call requirement

Setting: Inpatient

Patient Census: 15 per day, 5-7 new consults

Duties

Rounding on new and remaining patients, plan discharges, continue care plans, prep for procedures, etc.

Support Staff: GI Hospitalist

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified
