Key Responsibilities
- SOCIAL WORKER Fulfills the needs of patients, families, and community by providing Social Work services in accordance with his/her licensure, certification, training, and regulatory
Requirements
- Assumes the responsibility for coordinating and facilitating services for patients during and subsequent to admission to the acute rehabilitation unit.
- Responds effectively to new and changing work assignments.
- The social worker follows ARU patients upon admission to the unit (completing a thorough Unit Program Orientation and introduction to Social Work discharge planning role upon) through discharge.

- Scheduling and facilitating family meetings, as needed.
- Keeping track of medical insurance benefits and authorization for stay in inpatient rehab, updating insurance providers- seeking additional authorization when it is needed.
- Providing bedside coping and adjustment support to patients and families Keeping patients and family members updated to discharge planning tasks and progress throughout rehab course.
